My Game obsession of the month…. PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES!

Alrighty so a few months back as I was surfing the iTunes app store I came across this game called Plants vs. Zombies and took a look at it and said “This game looks stupid” and I never purchased it. It was funny how after I saw it in the app store I noticed how everyone, that I either followed on Twitter or blogs on the internets, seemed to be talking about it and how fun it was. I even noticed my friend @joelmbell (follow him on twitter) playing it on his iPhone and I was like, “really?!?!” He then preceded to tell me about how fun it was and I was like “eh” haha. Now just a little bit of background as to how I shop at the iTunes app store. I tend to look at the title, then the photos, then the reviews. I rarely look at who made the game. If I would have known that it was made by PopCap I would have immediately purchased it. PopCap are the makers of such great addicting games like Bejeweled and Peggle.

Ok so skip ahead about a month or so and the iPad , a device which is simply stunning if I do say so myself, is released and my friends @joelmbell and @ryancooley both get one. So as with the rest of the world I was wanting to get my hands on the device to see for myself if it lived up to all of the hype. Well it did and it was amazing, but I’ll save my thoughts on that for another post. Anyways whilst I was perusing the iPad I noticed that @ryancooley a had purchased the game. Well after launching almost every app he had on the device I decided to take the leap and opened up the Plants vs. Zombies game.

After the first level……I was hooked! That night when I got home I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I picked up my iPhone and purchased it.haha

There are so many things that I could tell you about this game but to keep this post short I’ll simply say this. The gameplay is a variation of your usual tower defense games. The playing field consists of your garden in which you grow various types of plants to protect your house from being raided by brain-hungry zombies. The game offers a simple system of resource management which involves collecting sun that falls from the sky for growing more plants. However for me what makes Plant vs. Zombies great is the game sounds and the zombies. Yes that’s right the zombies! They come in all different shapes and sizes and I love them all even though some are extremely tough to kill. My absolute favorite is the Michael Jackson Zombie, I know it’s still too soon for some folks sorry. :( The MJ zombie walks out in his “Thriller” outfit and all of a sudden a spot light hits him and more zombies pop up from underground and they begin doing the dance from “Thriller!” So great. Oh and another thing is the amazingly catchy tune and music video that plays when you beat the game!

There’s a lot more to this game that I love but I simply don’t have the time to list them all. I will say this however. If you are looking for a game that you play occasionally, this is not it! Trust me as soon as you finish the first few levels you’ll be opening up this game at every moment that you can. So what are you waiting for go get it for your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, or your desktop at PopCap.com and see it for yourself.

Pros:
- Top-notch character design
- Makes you laugh. A lot
- Large array of mini-games and unlockables enhance replay ability

Cons:
